A juvenile is defined as someone that is 16 years of age or younger. Juvenile Information is confidential even if you are a victim and the offender is a juvenile. Law Enforcement, which includes School Resource Officers, cannot release any information pertaining to the juvenile or the case.
At the age of 17 someone can still be charged as a juvenile if they are a run away or a unruly child. All other charges will be adult charges or cases.
Before someone reaches the age of 18 the parents or guardians are responsible for their actions. When a person turns 18 he/she is then considered an adult. Only at this age is a person allowed to move out on their own from their parent or guardians care.
